Is the Essence Foundation a charity or a private
company?
The Essence Foundation is a non-profit organisation run almost entirely
by volunteers who have benefited personally from the course.
Where does the money go?
Your course fees cover the hiring of the venue, transport, equipment
and other operational costs.
What is the theoretical basis for the trainings?
Are they based on any particular therapeutic or psychological approach?
Essence Foundation courses are not ?therapy' in the conventional sense
but an educational process and much of what we teach is common sense.
However, the facilitator draws on a number of different approaches,
including Gestalt, social Psychology, Family Constellation work, systemic
theory, attachment theory , neuropsychology, and Neuro Linguistic
Programming.
Is The Essence Foundation religious?
No. People from all different backgrounds do the seminar – Muslims,
Christians, Buddhists, Hindus and, of course, many people who have
no religious beliefs at all. The Essence Foundation could be described
as "spiritual" with a small "s" in that it deals
with the human spirit.
How do Essence Courses help people?
Participants very often say they manage to let go of some of the things
that are holding them back. They also say they become much more aware
of the strategies they employ in their every day lives and how they
can be more effective. At the root of the Essence approach is the
belief that each person starts life perfect and unlimited. Yet as
life goes on, we can have experiences that cause us to close down
the natural loving part of us, our spontaneity and creativity.
These experiences usually take place in childhood, where
the patterns are laid down for later adult patterns of behaviour.
An example might be as simple as a small child being scolded for being
noisy when s/he was simply expressing joy; perhaps being compared
with a sibling; or perhaps simply not receiving as much love and attention
as was needed. These experiences can include parents divorcing; the
death of a parent; any kind of experience of abuse and so on. Even
those from the happiest of families have experiences in life that
can lead us to develop fears and anxieties about ourselves and others.
Common ones are that we are just not good enough; we can't have what
we want in life; we may be rejected, humiliated or hurt; there is
something "different" about us, something missing; the world
is dangerous and we have to fight to survive. Often these fears are
not conscious, but they determine how we behave in life. Through Essence
courses, people begin to see who they really are underneath sometimes
for the first time in many years. They also become aware of the fears
and limiting
beliefs they have and learn some extraordinary new strategies.
What actually takes place in the seminar room?
There are a wide variety of different activities over the period of
the course. These include interactive processes involving the whole
group; exercises done with a partner or a smaller group; periods when
the facilitator will briefly present information and new concepts;
discussion and sharing of feelings; closed eye processes (sometimes
called guided meditation or creative visualisation) and there are
even some games. It is stimulating, fun, educational and highly experiential.
All aspects of the course take place in a very gentle, safe atmosphere
of trust.
What are the Foundation course times?
Day One: 9.30am – 10.00pm approx
Day Two: 10.00am – 10.00pm approx
Day Three: 10.00am – 8.00pm approx (Invite family and
friends: 8.00pm – 10.00pm approx)
Can I miss any part of the course?
We strongly recommend that people register when they can manage all
the hours. Each hour on the course is precious and if you miss any
part of it, you will lose some of the benefits. For many, the act
of putting aside this time for themselves is itself an important and
powerful part of the course experience.
How much is it?
The cost of the Foundation Course is £375. However,
we have a unique payment system. All you need to do to reserve
your place is to pay a deposit of £200. Then towards the end
of the course you will be asked to contribute – using the £375
as a guideline – based on the value you feel you have received.
Some people pay much more. Some pay less. It is done confidentially
and it is entirely up to you to decide how much you wish to pay.
What will I get out of it?
Most people find they come out of Essence courses with increased self-esteem
and a clearer sense of their own unique qualities and strengths. However,
other benefits are as varied and manifold as the people who do the
seminar. They include greater peace of mind; clearer sense of purpose
and direction; more energy and vitality; greater closeness to others
and so on.
What's great about the courses is that people receive what they need
from the course, and that varies tremendously.
Will Essence solve all my problems?
No. Essence assists you to explore a way of approaching life that
needs to be applied in order to make a difference. Although participants
experience strong positive feelings and boosted energy, the purpose
of the course is for people to have an experience of living life in
a different way as a reference point for their lives outside the course
room; what participants will gain is an armoury of tools and techniques
to approach living their lives in more effective and loving ways.
My life is going really well. Is there any point in doing
an Essence course?
Yes! Essence Courses are a worthwhile learning experience
for everybody, especially if your life is going well; you will be
extremely well positioned to capitalise on all the benefits. Participating
in an Essence course will show you that there is always more to learn
and that there are many opportunities to enrich your life further
and to have more.
